My first #thedailymarker30day Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends! As many of you will know, the 8th edition of Kathy Racoosin’s colouring challenge starts today! I’m excited to be taking part in it for the very first time. As a mummy of two under 5’s, wife, friend and full-time professional, this is quite a commitment for me! So I hope I’ll be able to keep up. I’m pinning this post to the top of my blog during the month of September and I plan on sharing my daily coloured images with you here and on Instagram. Are you joining in too? Let me know! I’d love to see your colouring too…

Another Monster-ously masculine card

And why settle for one MONSTER-ously cute and masculine card when you can have two?! It just so happens that today is my boss’ birthday. He’s not only an outstanding manager, but he is also an amazing colleague who is greatly appreciated by all. And so it was that I couldn’t let his day go by without making him a birthday card.

I used the die-cut inlay technique to create the shadow below this little blue guy, which is similar to putting together a puzzle. I die cut the oval shape in the white card panel and discarded the positive piece. Then I die cut the same shape again from black card stock, this time discarding the negative piece. I then pieced my card panel and my black oval together like two pieces in a puzzle. It’s such a fun technique and the results are super in real life! I then added a few droplets with my liquid pearls and repeat stamped that sentiment on the right.

So there you have it, more inspiration for those masculine cards which can sometimes be so “puzzling” to create! Happy birthday, Tom. May the year ahead be full of reasons for you to celebrate!

Monster-ously cute masculine card – YNS Challenge #71

Hello crafty friends! If you follow me on Instagram, you will be aware of the fact that I was away on holiday over the last few days. We had a lovely time by the pool, building sand castles and watching the kids get tanned by the sea. We are one lucky family to have had such a chance, I know!

Since my baby girl still naps in the daytime, I was also able to fit in a bit of colouring whist we were away. Before we left home, I stamped a bunch of my favourite images and packed them into our hand luggage along with my small collection of Copic markers. I treated myself to about an hour of colouring every afternoon, so hopefully I’ll be able to put a few cards together and share them with you over the next few days, so stay tuned!

The first of them is this birthday card, for which I was inspired by the layout of the current challenge over at the Your Next Stamp blog.

I particularly love this card design because it works beautifully as a masculine card too (which is great, since I’m planning on giving it to my brother-in-law when we next see him in a few days).

I hope you like today’s project and that in inspires you to play along in one of Your Next Stamps’ Sketch and Colour Challenges. They are a great way to discover new and talented crafters out there, and the Design Team always provide us with awesome inspiration for us to use the YNS stamps and dies we might already own in new and fun ways. Until next time!

Your Next Stamp Challenge #60

Hi everyone! And welcome back to another card-making blog post and YouTube video. Today’s card is my entry to the Your Next Stamp Sketch and Color Challenge #60. For this challenge, Karen, Julie and the YNS team set the following sketch and colour combo:

Contestants could use either the sketch or the colour combo… but I chose to use both!

Your Next Stamp have recently started vlogging again on their YouTube Channel, which is very exciting news for all of us YNS fans. So, in order to celebrate this happy event, I decided to create a little video tutorial of my own. For today’s card I used the Funny Farm Crew stamp set and dies, along with the coordinating Funny Farm Sentiments stamps:

Now, if you’re anything like me and find it encouraging to watch other card-makers make and fix mistakes in their videos (nobody’s perfect, right?!), you’re going to want to sit tight and watch this video until the end!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope today gives you a good excuse to shake your “ba-donkey-donk”!!!
