My first ever Halloween card

Do you make Halloween cards? I have never really made Halloween cards in the past, nor have I really celebrated this holiday. However, I have seen such adorable Halloween stamps available this year, I have decided to treat myself to a single Halloween set to make a few cards for my American friends. The lucky chosen one was this cute mini stamp set by Waffle Flower Crafts, called “Boo Stamp Set“, since this bear is one of my favourite stamp characters out there!

The moon was die cut out of a shimmery cream paper and the “Boo” sentiment was custom made using my “Cutaway Alpha Stamp Set“, also from Waffle Flower. For the cloud background I used a stencil I previously created myself from some acetate (check out how I did it on this video) and some purple ink. I used my Caran d’Ache Luminance colour pencils (Prismacolors are hard to come by in Switzerland) to colour in the images in this card, then used a little stump and some baby oil to smooth out the colouring. The stumps and the baby oil really help smooth out those lines without having to inhale all of those Gamsol fumes!

I had previously shared this card on my Instagram and since its now on its way to its recipient, I figured it was about time I shared it here too! If I was making it again, I would probably use the little cobweb stamp to go underneath the “Boo” sentiment instead of scribbling that wriggly line. Still, I’m pretty chuffed with this card. My first ever Halloween one! Make sure to tag me on IG if you’re also making Halloween projects this year. I would love to see what you create!

Until next time!

¡Feliz cumpleaños a mí! feat. dies in Spanish

Today is my birthday. That’s right, I’m a year wiser today and I love it! I love birthdays and I love celebrating my own one too. When I was little I would get SO excited in the days preceding my birthdays: my mum and I would plan my party, put together my guest list and so on. Such was the anticipation that I almost invariably would break down in tears on the actual day, halfway through the party, as all eyes were on me! Thankfully I’ve grown out of the habit of breaking down on my birthday and I’m celebrating with you all with this cute birthday card in Spanish, since I celebrated my birthday in Spanish until I moved abroad a few years back.

I didn’t actually create this card for myself. In fact, this is the third of the three cards I created with the repeat background panels I put together whilst creating my Design Team project for the last Bastel Traum Challenge. Feel free to click on the links in this sentence to check out the first and second cards.

I created this card by repeat-stamping a few of the little images included in the “Bear and Bird” stamp set by Waffle Flower Crafts with grey ink. I then covered my background panel with a piece of vellum cut out using the largest die in my “Lacy Layers 2 Die” set, also by Waffle Flower Crafts. I then stamped, coloured and fussy-cut the bear, bird and flower pot also included in that stamp set, and adhered them on to my card panel using some foam squares. The sentiment in Spanish is by Micaela Ferrero. I absolutely love the quality of her products in Spanish and recommend them to anybody out there in search of sentiments to stamp and die cut in Spanish (I recently raved about them in this other blog post entitled “Sentiments in Spanish, feat. Gerda Seiner Designs). And that’s just about it! I’ll tell you a bit more about how I celebrated my birthday and perhaps do a Happy Mail video in the upcoming days to show off all of my crafty friend’s lovely creations! Birthday hugs to you all and thanks for stopping by today.

Bastel Traum Challenge #56 – Anything goes!

Hello crafty peeps! And welcome back to another Bastel Traum Challenge Blog Post and Video Tutorial. The subject of this month’s challenge is “Anything Goes” and you can play along with us until the 15th of September at 8:55 am MET for a chance to win a 15 chf certificate to the Bastel Traum online shop (they have a great selection and ship worldwide!)

In today’s card I created my own pattern paper through repeat background stamping. To do so, I used a few of the little images included in the “Bear and Bird Stamp Set” by Waffle Flower Crafts. These are originally intended to be slipped into the the bear’s paws, since the coordinating dies are designed to cut little slits in the bear’s arms for this purpose. However, I thought they were the perfect (small) size for this background technique!

I hope you like today’s card. If you’re interested in more details on how to replicate this project, please click here to watch my YouTube Process Video Tutorial!

I look forward to seeing your entries to this month’s Bastel Traum Challenge. Until next time!
