Stencil Technique – Bastel Traum Challenge #73

Hello crafty friends! In today’s post I’m bringing you a card with a background created using a Heffy Doodle’s Starfall stencilsome Nuvo Glimmer Pasteand a few images from Purple Onion Designs, illustrated by Stacey Yakula. It was my first time ever using a stencil with glimmer paste (I’d used them with ink blending before) and I had a blast, so I hope you’ll give this technique a try too.

BTChallenge 73

Four new houses were built on our road at the end of last year and over the Christmas break we went for a walk and discovered new neighbours had moved into one of them. So I dashed back to my craft room and decided I’d put together a little “Welcome to the neighbourhood!” card to bring over with a tin of home-made biscuits. Have you ever been on the giving or receiving side of a kind gesture by a neighbour? Leave me a comment here or over on my IG account (link on the top right of my blog) and give me some more ideas to welcome the other three neighbours when they move in. In the mean time, I hope you will pull out your stencils and play along with us in this month’s challenge. Until next time!

One Layer Cards feat. Purple Onion Designs

Hello crafty friends! I’m really excited to bring you my first ever blog project using products from a new-to-me company called Purple Onion Designs. I first heard of this company through Sandy Allnock, who has an amazing YouTube playlist with tons of inspiration videos using products from this company. This line of stamps is illustrated by the talented Stacey Yakula and the idea is to mix and match them in order to create some adorable scenes! I’ve managed to get my hands on a few of their stamps and I’ve made a first card with a couple of them, using a bit of stamp masking (if you don’t know what that is, check out my “Maskathon” video tutorial using Heffy Doodle products here).

This card is for my brother-in-law’s family, who will soon be moving to NY for a new job. The entire scene constitutes a one-layer-card (I think it’s my very first, in fact!), and I added an in-between layer of red card stock and a little red bow for some added interest. Do you like these gorgeous illustrations or do you love them?! More Purple Onion goodness to be found in this space soon… Until then, happy crafting!
