Hello Bastel Traum friends! And welcome back to another one of our monthly challenges, where you can play with us for a chance to win a 15 chf certificate to the Bastel Traum Online Shop (they ship worldwide!) This month’s challenge will run until 15 March 2018 at 8:45 am GMT+2 and the subject will be “Birthday / Party”.
Today’s project is a cutesy scene card I created using the Lawn Fawn “Yay, Kites!” Stamps and Dies, along with the “Big Scripty Words” Stamps and Dies, the “Stitched Hillside Borders” and some “Perfectly Plaid Rainbow” paper for my grass (also from Lawn Fawn) for my grassy hill.
I’ll be honest with you and say I hesitated about whether or not this card was actually Design Team material. In the end I decided it was and here’s why. This was one of the first stamp sets I purchased from the Bastel Traum Shop a couple of years ago. Back at the time I didn’t own any fancy watercolours, Prismacolor pencils or Copic markers. All I had was a supermarket-bought pack of 18 colour pencils. So back in the day I stamped and coloured out my images with those pencils and it was very straightforward. I was starting out in card making and I had no idea about the colour wheel, light and shadow, and how more advanced colouring can help bring images to life. I just coloured these happy little critters for fun, no pressure, no blog posts, nothing. I simply coloured to my heart’s content, die cut and stored them away in a little tin container for lack of a better idea of what to do with them.
I still own that little tin container and I continue to fill it up with images I colour on the go. I was searching through it to find some coloured images which might lend themselves to our challenge this month and found these little guys. So I personally challenged myself to show you guys that I could make a project I was proud of, even if I didn’t really feel very confident about my colouring. The fact of the matter is, practice makes perfect, and not being an expert at a given technique doesn’t mean we can’t have fun or create something beautiful with it.
I hope you will see the same beauty in this project as I see in my early days colouring. I’m still no master at colour pencils (you can head over to my friend Ute’s blog if you’re looking for that kind of magic!) But I am having fun and I hope you are too, whatever your skill level might be!
I look forward to the projects you will share with us this month, whatever the techniques or skill levels they may reflect, because I’m hoping you will have had fun creating and sharing them. That’s what crafting is all about. Until next time!
Hello crafty friends! Welcome to the Bastel Traum Challenge #61, which is also my very first post of 2018. I’m really excited to kicking off a new year with a Bastel Traum Challenge post. 2017 was a hectic year, juggling home, work and crafty commitments, and my monthly Bastel Traum posts helped me keep my blog active and make time for crafting, even when things got really nuts! So I really look forward to another year of playing along with the Bastel Traum Design Team and with all of you out there who choose to play along with us each month!
The subject of this month’s challenge is “Love / Valentine’s Day”. For this challenge, I put together a tag/card using one of the images I coloured during last year’s Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge (by the way, Kathy Racoosin is launching her next Colouring Challenge today, so stay tuned for that post also, which will stay pinned to the top of my blog for the duration of the Challenge).
The stamped image is from JM Creation and I coloured it using my colour pencils. At the start of the last Colouring Challenge I exchanged a few stamped images with my friend Nicole, from the Bastel Traum DT, and this was one of the ones she sent me. Both the Outside In Stitched Heart Stackable Dies (red heart) and the Lacy Heart Stackable Dies (white heart) are by Lawn Fawn. The tag die is by Neat and Tangled, and the sentiments are from Heffy Doodle‘s “Beary Big Heart” Stamp Set.
Are you making any Valentine’s Day cards? Share them with us over at the Bastel Traum Challenge Blog for your chance to win a 15 chf certificate to the Bastel Traum Online Shop (they ship worldwide!) This month’s challenge will run until 15 Feb. 2018 at 8:45 am GMT+2. Until next time!
Well hello everyone! And thanks for stopping by. Today is a very happy day, since in a couple of hours I’ll be heading out of the house to meet sweet baby Zoe: my friend A’s newborn baby girl. Some of you may remember that a few months back I created a piece of home decor for my own baby girl. That piece hangs in her bedroom and it puts a smile on my face every time I look at it. So when it came to creating the prefect gift for baby Zoé, I thought of making something similar. And for an extra bit of fun, I am also entering this piece in the latest Lawn Fawnatics Challenge, where we are being challenged to use our oldest Lawn Fawn set (this one came out in 2012!)
A few months back, my friend A decided to start watercolouring for the first time in her life. I was so excited when she told me about this, that I immediately offered to stamp out a few images for her to practice her watercolouring and create something beautiful. She graciously accepted my offer and, a few days later, found herself playing with a few images from the “Flutter By” Set by Lawn Fawn (available in the US / Switzerland).
When she was done watercolouring, she didn’t make much of her images, so I asked her if I could have them back and make something with them. Little did she know that a few months later I would be creating this piece for her newborn baby girl! So, in a way, this is a present from baby Zoe both from me, but also from her own mummy! I can’t wait to hand it over to my dear friend A and see her surprised face! (If she’ll let me, I’ll snap a picture and share it with you soon).
Do you also own this classic Lawn Fawn set? If so, what has been your favourite creation with it? Leave me your links, I’d love to check out your projects and get inspired to create a bit more! I hope you enjoyed today’s home decor project and… until next time!
Hello Bastel Traum friends! It’s time for another monthly challenge over at the Bastel Traum Challenge Blog. This is your chance to play along for a chance to win a 15 chf certificate to the Bastel Traum Online Shop (they ship worldwide!)
The subject of this month’s challenge is SUPER original since it’s a tic-tac-toe recipe. The idea is to choose any three elements from the tic-tac-toe board above, forming a straight line horizontally, vertically or diagonally. I chose to go diagonally from top to bottom, left to right, which set my card theme as polka dots – flowers – clean and simple. And this is what I came up with!
Isn’t that the coolest challenge theme ever!? To create my card I used the “Flutter By” stamp and die set by Lawn Fawn. For the sentiment I decided to reach for my “Big Scritpy Words” stamp and die set, also by Lawn Fawn! I did a bit of card stock layering (full product info in my video tutorial, link below!) and kept it clean and simple as the recipe called for!

I can’t wait to see all of your projects for this month’s challenge. To link up your entry, simply click on the image below. May the best card win and… until next time!
In today’s post I simply want to share with you some of the STUNNING creations I received on my birthday last week from some of my crafty friends. So please click on each photo to visit my friend’s blogs and IG accounts.

None of the pictures do these beautiful cards justice, but I hope that they will at least lead you to my talented friend’s sites, where you will no doubt find more crafty inspiration!
