My first #thedailymarker30day Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends! As many of you will know, the 8th edition of Kathy Racoosin’s colouring challenge starts today! I’m excited to be taking part in it for the very first time. As a mummy of two under 5’s, wife, friend and full-time professional, this is quite a commitment for me! So I hope I’ll be able to keep up. I’m pinning this post to the top of my blog during the month of September and I plan on sharing my daily coloured images with you here and on Instagram. Are you joining in too? Let me know! I’d love to see your colouring too…

Hi everyone! I’m drafting today’s post in English and French, as the project I created today is a year-end teacher gift for my kids’ nursery school teachers (who are all French-speaking). I didn’t record a process video on this occasion, as my project was inspired on a video by Jennifer McGuire (which you can watch by clicking here.)

In our family, we greatly appreciate the work done by our nursery school teachers. It is thanks to these early childhood professionals that daddys and mummys (like me!) are not obliged to chose between parenthood and a career after having been fortunate enough to become parents. These men and women, who are never lacking in attention for our little ones, allow us to leave for work every morning in the knowledge that they will be there to hold and sing our babies to sleep at nap time, to kiss and cuddle them better, to respectfully and patiently discipline them when it proves necessary, and to look after their general well-being all day long!

As a small token of our family’s appreciation for a year of tender love and care, I created these “Colour me card sets” using the “Zen Bouquet” stamp set by Honey Bee Stamps, along with my sentiments in French “Tampons pour carterie“, by Miaoups Créations (their site seems temporarily offline), and packed them up with some Faber-Castell colour pencil sets.

J’ai également colorié avec des crayons couleur une carte en échantillon, dans laquelle j’ai écrit un petit mot de remerciement.

I also coloured a sample card using my colour pencils, inside of which I wrote a little thank you note.

Bastel Traum Design Team Challenge #54

Hello Crafty Friends! And welcome back to another Bastel Traum Challenge video tutorial! Come and join us at the Bastel Traum Challenge blog for a chance to win a 15 CHF certificate to the Bastel Traum online shop (they ship worldwide and Tom, who owns it, is amazing at providing you with honest product advice!)

The subject of this month’s challenge isWater and so it is that I am taking you all under the sea with this super cute mermaid underwater scene!

To create today’s card I used two more adorable stamp sets from Sunny Studio Stamps’ latest release, called “Magical Mermaids” and “Oceans of Joy“, which I stamped and coloured with my alcohol-based Copic markers. I also created a front window for my underwater scene using my Essentials by Ellen “Diagonal Window” die and decorated it with a sea turtle-shell pattern using this super versatile (top layer) stencil from Honey Bee Stamps’ latest release.

For those of you who don’t know it, I love sea turtles. I don’t get to scuba dive very often and I’m not terribly adventurous (meaning a 15 metre / 50 feet dive is plenty enough for me!), but my husband and I enjoy it every time we get a chance. Last time we visited the stunning Mayan Riviera, in Mexico, we had the privilege of diving with wild sea turtles. They are some of the most beautiful creatures I have ever encountered, truly majestic, and I hope the people out there who hunt them and hurt them will realize that before it’s too late. In the mean time, my “water” (or rather, “under water”) card is my little tribute to this beautiful endangered species!

I hope you enjoy my video tutorial as much as I enjoyed creating it for you and that you’ll play along with the design team at the Bastel Traum Challenge blog for a chance to grow your craft supplies collection. Until next time!

Curious Kitties Rotating Disc Card {Honey Bee Stamps}

Hi Peeps! Welcome back to my crafty blog (and apologies for the delay in posting this entry, I had some technical problems!)

Many of you probably know and follow lovely Lesley Oman’s “Hungry Heffy Crafts'” blog and YouTube channel (and if you don’t already, you totally should! She’s super talented.) Lesley is currently a Design Team Member for Honey Bee Stamps, which recently (February 2017) released a full collection designed in collaboration with Lesley. Hooray for Lesley (and for Melissa, the Queen Bee at Honey Bee Stamps)!!! As soon as I heard the happy news and saw the gorgeous designs in this collection, I knew I needed to get my hands on it (or at least part of it to start with!)

And so it is that in today’s card I’m featuring the “Curious Kitties” stamp set, which is part of that release by Honey Bee Stamps.

In today’s card I’m also sharing with you my secret weapon for achieving beautiful results with colour pencils. And remember, this is the video you need to comment on for a chance to win a gorgeous mini stamp from Lawn Fawn’s latest release! (See blog post below for full details or stayed tuned until the end of the video.) Thanks for playing along and good luck :o)
