Bastel Traum Challenge #55 – Mixing and matching stamp sets

Hello crafty friends! Today I bring you: not one, not two, but three cards as part of the monthly challenge over at the Bastel Traum challenge blog. This month the Design Team was given a colour scheme to work with and it was just SO gorgeous, I couldn’t limit myself to one project!

For these cards I started off by cutting my front panels from smooth white cardstock using my Waffle Flower Lacy Layers 2 Dies (very similar to Lawn Fawn’s Fancy Scalloped Rectangle Stackables). I then created different ink blended backgrounds using 3 colours of Distress Inks to match the colour scheme provided: Spun SugarMustard Seeds and Tumbled Glass. The colourful back panels are from the Lawn Fawn Plaid Rainbow 6in x 6in paper pack.

Next up, I mixed and matched 3 different stamp and die sets by Lawn Fawn (Big Scripty Words, Home Sweet Home and Little Bundle) and a gorgeous new stamp set from Altenew (Crafty Friends) for one of my sentiments. I stamped them using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, which I knew wouldn’t bleed when I coloured over it with my (alcohol based) Copic markers, before I went ahead and die cut them using my matching dies and beloved Sizzix Big Shot machine. I fussy cut all images for which I didn’t have dies.

I adhered the more intricate images using my glue pen and for the larger ones I went for a few foam squares.  And for a finishing touch, a stroke of Wink of Stella over my images. Here’s the process video:

I hope you enjoy today’s cards and YouTube video. Don’t forget to stop by the Bastel Traum Challenge Blog to play along for a chance to win a 15 CHF certificate to the Bastel-Traum.com online shop (they ship worldwide!) Until next time!

A crafty explosion! Heffy Doodle Stamps

Hello crafty friends! Today I would like to bring you some exciting information about a brand new stamp and die company called Heffy Doodle, by my crafty friend Lesley Oman (Hungry Heffy Crafts). The company is being launched through Kickstarter and their first release will include 4 stamp sets with 4 coordinating die sets and a very special 5th stamp set for all of us interactive card-makers.

Lesley was kind enough to send me a sample set to play with. It’s called “Unbearable Without You” and these are all the cute little images it includes:

So I paired up these cute images with my box card die set by The Stamps of Life to create an awesome crafty explosion with the help of some acetate strips and a LOT of glue dots! Here is what the outside of my card looks like:

And here’s a close up of the inside:

I had lots of fun playing with this set, as both the stamps and dies are top quality. I’ll be playing with them some more throughout the month of July in order to support their Kickstarter campaign. So please stay tuned on my blog and YouTube channel over the next few days. And most importantly, please remember to stop by their Kickstarter page and website on Monday, July 3rd 2017 to check out their full release and pre-order your sets!

Bastel Traum Design Team Challenge #54

Hello Crafty Friends! And welcome back to another Bastel Traum Challenge video tutorial! Come and join us at the Bastel Traum Challenge blog for a chance to win a 15 CHF certificate to the Bastel Traum online shop (they ship worldwide and Tom, who owns it, is amazing at providing you with honest product advice!)

The subject of this month’s challenge isWater and so it is that I am taking you all under the sea with this super cute mermaid underwater scene!

To create today’s card I used two more adorable stamp sets from Sunny Studio Stamps’ latest release, called “Magical Mermaids” and “Oceans of Joy“, which I stamped and coloured with my alcohol-based Copic markers. I also created a front window for my underwater scene using my Essentials by Ellen “Diagonal Window” die and decorated it with a sea turtle-shell pattern using this super versatile (top layer) stencil from Honey Bee Stamps’ latest release.

For those of you who don’t know it, I love sea turtles. I don’t get to scuba dive very often and I’m not terribly adventurous (meaning a 15 metre / 50 feet dive is plenty enough for me!), but my husband and I enjoy it every time we get a chance. Last time we visited the stunning Mayan Riviera, in Mexico, we had the privilege of diving with wild sea turtles. They are some of the most beautiful creatures I have ever encountered, truly majestic, and I hope the people out there who hunt them and hurt them will realize that before it’s too late. In the mean time, my “water” (or rather, “under water”) card is my little tribute to this beautiful endangered species!

I hope you enjoy my video tutorial as much as I enjoyed creating it for you and that you’ll play along with the design team at the Bastel Traum Challenge blog for a chance to grow your craft supplies collection. Until next time!

Happy mail for my crafty friends

Hi everyone! I know I have been a bit quiet lately and I apologise for the long silence! There are two reasons for that:

1) I decided to take a “Whimsical Sketching” online class (related post and video coming up in a few days) and have been busy sketching away; and

2) I have been creating and sending some happy mail to a few of my crafty friends.

Today I am sharing with you a clean and simple (CAS) card design which is perfect for sending happy mail to our crafty friends. Because, let’s face it, crafty friends are the best!

To create this card design I used the awesome artsy-craftsy stamp set from Paper Smooches called I Heart Art and challenged myself to stick with a CAS design which would travel nicely in the mail.

This is also my entry to the Paper Smooches April 2017 challenge, the subject of which is Showers.

And what is the best part of a good spring shower? The rainbow that ensues!!! I hope you all enjoy my personal take on this theme. Happy crafting!
